TES Talks

At least four a year, two per semester.

Outside the weekly programmes, TES runs marquee talks with people worth travelling across campus for. Recent evenings have brought in the founder of Setanta Sports, the co-founder of Gnosis on blockchain and decentralised finance, a venture partner at Elkstone, and the co-founder of Taiyo.AI for a panel on leading in the age of cognitive infrastructure.

Talks are frequently co-hosted with other societies — TCD Eng Soc, DUBES, the Irish Student Managed Fund and UCD Investors & Entrepreneurs among them — which is usually how the bigger names get booked.

Careers sessions

Throughout the year, concentrated around application season.

TES acts as a route onto campus for firms recruiting students, which means you hear about these before they are widely advertised.

Past sessions have covered the Jane Street Strategy & Product internship, Deloitte’s summer internship and Future Leaders Academy graduate programme, and the University of Notre Dame ESTEEM graduate programme and Naughton Fellowship. TES has also partnered on Hack Europe, a hackathon running simultaneously in Dublin, Stockholm and Paris.

Sign-up links for the bigger sessions go out to members by email first.

Socials

Throughout the year.

TES is not only a programmes society, and a page that suggested otherwise would be misleading. The social calendar is a genuine part of it.

Recent years have included Trinity Cupids, a blind-date night run with Ents, VDP, EngSoc and French Soc with proceeds going to Women’s Aid; a Charity Ball with Ents, Law Soc and others; a Stock Market Night with DUBES and the Student Managed Fund; and Movember sea swims at Seapoint.

Most socials are co-hosted, which is the easiest way to meet people outside your own course. There is usually free pizza.
